League Information
League History
CYBA was founded in 1992, by Dean Berry. It originated with approximately 5 to 6 teams. With Dean's financial backing and organization, "the league" became a reality.
"The League" soon became known as Columbia Youth Basketball Association. With the support of Coach Bob Burchard from Columbia College the City of Columbia's Parks and Recreation Department and Columbia Public Schools, the league has grown to 96 teams and about 900 kids.
CYBA is run by an Administrative Director, Executive Board, and Board of Directors. Board meetings are held every other month; February, April, June, August, October and December at the Armory, 701 E. Ash.
League Facts
CYBA is a recreational league that provides equal playing time for all male and female players' grades 4-7.
Fees are as follows:
* Boys and Girls 4th-7th grade: $90 per player. Late fees apply after September 30th for grade 4-6 and November 30th for grade 7.
* Boys 8th-9th grade and Boys 10th-12th grade: $70 per player or $600 per team (CYBA will assign team sponsor) and $775 (team chooses team name and team color) (minimum 8 players on submitted roster)
* Girls 8th-12th grade: $70 per player or $600 per team (CYBA will assign team sponsor) and $775 (team chooses team name and team color) (minimum 8 players on submitted roster)
*The typical season consists of 9-11 games

The "Matt Twenter Sportsmanship Award Reception" is held after each season. Referees, coaches, and others nominate the three teams in each age and gender division that exhibited the most sportsmanship. These teams are invited to this prestigious event. Medals are awarded to each divisional team receiving the most votes for exemplifying sportsmanship. Coaches, officials, and administration are also recognized.
League Structure
Registration and sign-ups begin in September. Registration forms are distributed by CYBA to all Elementary and Middle Schools.
Our league has over 1,000 boys and girls, and is sponsored by local businesses and service organizations. (Sponsorship information is available upon request.)

Our season begins in January with games being played every Saturday starting at 8 am.
